Louisville has been bountifully blessed by the Bourbon dynasty boom . We ’ve been canonized as a culinary red-hot spot . We ’re on all the " where to visit " lists . So what more could we perhaps want ? Well , this stuff …

One of those fast-food burger chains the East & West Coasts go crazy for

Whether it be In - N - Out Burger , Shake Shack , or Whataburger … just give us something . Louisville is supposed to be the birthplace of the cheeseburger ( Kaelin ’s is allegedly where some genius first thought to add cheese to a ground beef ) , so we should get our plectrum of the country ’s burger - serving immobile - food chain , do n’t you think ?

A statue of Jennifer Lawrence

J - Law is from Louisville . If you see her out and about ( ordinarily over the holidays ) leave her be and let her live her life . Instead of bothering the real Jennifer , instal her in image on a pavement in the Highlands or on a bench Downtown . Sure she has a big Hometown Heroes streamer , but we ca n’t take selfies with that .

Google Fiber

Google Fiber may actually be derive to Louisville , if AT&T doesn’truin it for all of us .

IKEA

Louisvillians presently have to make the 60 minutes - and - a - one-half trip to Cincinnati to right fit out their first apartment or hall . permit ’s change that .

A professional sports team

Kentucky is major college basketball game country , so it ’s a little weird that we do n’t have an NBA squad . Having said that , it might make more sensory faculty for an NFL or NHL team to make Louisville home since college ball is already king . But come on , give ussomething .

An aquarium

A freshwater aquarium focus on school people about the wildlife around the Ohio River would be great for our metropolis and for the child growing up here . I know , I hump : the cause toNewport Aquariumisn’t severe , but would n’t it be nice if we had our very own Louisville Aquarium ?

A waterfront Ferris wheel

How great would Waterfront Wednesday search from the top of a Ferris wheel ? have ’s build one , charge per ride , and apply the earnings to theOhio River Bridges Projectso we can terminate all bridgework tolls ASAP .

More bike lanes

As Louisville ’s Downtown develops , bicyclist are becoming a common pile . But transpose by bike is slick without enough wheel lanes . gratefully , we ’ve already get abike - portion programin the body of work .

A much cleaner Ohio River

Westay away from the water of the Ohiofor the most part . If it were somehow less disgusting , we ’d probably spank around in it . We would wade , we would swim , and we would definitely be less grossed out .

A light-rail system

Public transfer around Louisville sucks . Seriously , we ’re one of the largest metropolis without a rider caravan system of any variety . It ’s time …

A Zara or Nordstrom

At least once a year ( Derby time ) , the resident of Louisville go all out , style - wise . But we demand more than just seersucker . And no , the Nordstrom Rack off Shelbyville Rd does NOT enumerate as a real Nordstrom .

More grocery options

The plannedWest Louisville FoodPortwill hopefully help partially break up Louisville ’s food desert , but a Trader Joe ’s or Lucky ’s Market Downtown would be incredibly convenient for everyone . All Louisvillians should have equal access to refreshful and healthy food , do n’t you recollect ?

An international grocery store (likeJungle Jim’s)

It ’s strange that Louisville is n’t home to a with child outside grocery store . Since we ARE home to the UPS Hub , we can easily get foodstuff shipped in mega - tight . Plus , there are enough adventurous eaters in Derby City to keep a giving international market store busy .

There are bunches of creative person - decorated , life - size sawbuck statues all around Louisville . They ’re calledGallopalooza . Why we have n’t already made a caboodle of them into a carrousel is a secret . We should . And then make Gallopalooza resort area or art common .

A clothing-optional or topless pool

Louisville does n’t have beaches ( do n’t swim in the Ohio , just do n’t ) , but we have a few quarries and some large pool . An adults - only , clothing - optional , secret place to swim and socialize ( sooner with a poolside bar ) would be crazy - playfulness on those summertime evening .

A graffiti park

Ever heard ofBrrr ? He ’s not the only underground graffiti artist sneaking around the ‘ Ville tag it up . We have tons of legal , sanctioned ( and howling ! ) public art . lease ’s make a place where it ’s legal to give chase to your heart ’s content .

Things for people under 21 to do

Shifting gears here … Louisville ’s had , shall we say , some trouble with our youths . Over the retiring few eld the mostly under-21 set has caused dismay by getting into shenanigans atWaterfront Park , and more recently , atSt . Matthews Mall , where you now have to be 18 + to be shop unattended . So there require to be some things for the under-21 crowd to do . They need somewhere to hang out and have a thigh-slapper without actually causing a scream . But please , no more hookah bars . We have enough .

A racetrack that won’t hurt horses

We require a synthetic track at Churchill Downs . Running on dirt or turf ismore dangerous for horsesthan running on a synthetic track . Whatever your Derby or Oaks - related feeling , we can all fit in it should be as safe as potential for the animate being involve .

WHY Louisville

Once upon a time , we had two WHY Louisville depot : one in NuLu and one in the Highlands . WHY Louisville sell mostly Louisville - have-to doe with giving , dress , and novelty . These kitsch - laden stores were fun to inflict as a resident or a tourist . After thehighly publicized breakdownof WHY Louisville proprietor Will Russell in 2015 , both stores shuttered . bring in them back !

A disco-ball mirror maze

Louisville has alot of historywith the disco egg . The enceinte one in Kentucky is currently hanging at Fourth Street Live ! , but sadly , Louisville has no disco orb - invigorate mirror snarl in which to take interminable selfies and throw daddy - up parties and generally boogie down . TheLouisville Mega Cavernhas an amazing Christmas light show , an aerial rope course , and a null - line tour , but how about a mirror snarl section celebrating the city ’s sparkliest product ?
