But even the most highly trained chef cognise there ’s only so much foie gras , agnolotti , and locally sourced pheasant one soul can wipe out . Whether it ’s after a long shift , or as a much - needed hangover cure before step behind the line , sometimes , even the master among us need a burrito . We surveil executive chef from some of the top restaurants around the city for their all - time favorite San Francisco burrito , and these made the cut …
Papalote
" More for sentimental reasons , but Papalote is our dearie . We live right across the street when we first locomote to San Francisco , and we were so improbably break at the time . When I say recrudesce , I think really break – like negative amounts in our bank account broke . The great thing about Papalote ’s burritos is that they ’re so big , we could either split one between the two of us or each get one and have half for dinner party that night and save the other one-half for tiffin the next mean solar day . I always got chicken , Evan got veggie . " –Sarah Rich , Rich Table
Taqueria Los Hermanos
" in person , my favourite burrito right now is from Taqueria Los Hermanos , in the spirits memory called Mid City Market and conveniently right next door to Huxley . I order the California burrito al pastor – it ’s get crashing french fries in it , follow on . Plus , it ’s in a liquor stock , so to me , it ’s a one - plosive consonant shop ! Since it ’s settle right next to the eating place , I eat one at least four fourth dimension a week ( and sometimes twice a day bet on how my night at HA - RA went ) . La Taqueria
" I have it away the ' crispy burrito ' at La Taqueria on Mission . It is n’t on the carte du jour – you have to ask for it – but it ’s the best . I always get the carne asada , with dome and just a petty rice , which is my favorite . They assemble it and then put it on the comal , turning it now and again until it ’s crispy , gilded , and wonderful ! " –Joanne Weir , Copita Tequileria y Comida"I in the main get the lengua burrito from La Taqueria . They marinate and season their nub really well , and do n’t utilise Elmer Rice . Also , it is a fairish size so the proportion of beans , sauce , heart , and tortilla are proportionate . " –Mourad Lahlou , Mourad&Aziza"La Taqueria does n’t have Elmer Reizenstein in the burrito , which make it really awesome . Plus , they braise their carnitas porc in Coca - Cola , which stops the motorbus . It is the beneficial , simple burrito in the metropolis and , probably , the nation to be honest . " –Aaron Toensing , Spaghetti Brothers"La Taqueria is one of my favorites – a strong burrito smear , and the spirit is spot - on . The carnitas is pleasant-tasting . " –Chef Paul Piscopo , PABU
El Gran Taco Loco
" When I ’m hanker for a burrito , it ’s the off - menu shrimp and carne asada super burrito with no rice from El Gran Taco Loco . I never get rice because the burrito itself is already too filling . " –Tim Archuleta , ICHI Sushi + NI Bar
Little Chihuahua
" I love the fact that they apply smart option when it comes to local intersection and sustainability but it ’s still a boot ass burrito . If I ’m there ahead of time I like to get the salmon tacos – they are light , and straightforward . If I ’m passing athirst or cure a hangover , I like to stick to the super burrito with 4505 ’s chorizo – it bring me right back to life , and I do n’t feel hangdog for doing it . Everything is well seasoned , and exceedingly refreshing . It ’s an honest taqueria doing a bully job . " –Tony Ferrari , Hillside Supper Club

Tacos Sinaloa
Oakland"They have two trucks at their parking lot stand on the nook of 21st and International Blvd . I love drive their burrito with a cutting of meat that is n’t seen everywhere , called the suadero . It ’s the bottom of the sirloin , and it ’s delicious . In America , we do n’t butcher for this part and unremarkably just leave it bind to the sirloin or the tip . It ’s a little spot chewy , but in a corking way . Plus , they have seating with the two truck , and the line of business are n’t that longsighted . " –Kyle Itani , Hopscotch

Taqueria Cancún
" Having grown up in San Diego , I ’ve always had outcome with the stylus of burritos up here , but usually I go to Cancún , on Mission/19th . I put a carne asada , with only cheese , avocado , and salsa , then ask them to make it ' el dorado , ' which have in mind they roll it on the plancha , and make it gilded on the outside . Closest affair to home and I get to hop on all the fussy rice , etc . " –Jesse Koide , Pink Zebra"I enjoy Cancún because it has a good ration of Sir Tim Rice , beans , and avocado . Something that place it over the top for me is their salsa – gracious and savory – and I care waiting for my number with some salutary chip . Also Cancún is right in Commonwealth ’s neighborhood , and sometimes after service , I need a former night bite . Cancún is just a top mountain pass Mission burrito . " –Michael Evans , Commonwealth"I’m more of a taco guy rope but when I palpate the need for a burrito ( i.e. , when I have a hangover ) I wish Cancún on Mission St. " –Craig Stoll , Delfina
El Farolito
" The Al Pastor at El Farolito seems like an easy bullshit answer , but that ’s because it ’s probably the good burrito in SF . " –Jason Ryczek , Farallon"When I am feeling un - wellness … well let ’s just say not as healthy , I love me some El Farolito at 24th and Mission . They have been knocking it out of the common ever since I can remember . It ’s the size of a baby , and you experience slimly ashamed when you complete it , but not so much as to leave any on the board ! " –Mat Schuster , Canela Bistro & Wine Bar"My favorite spot for burritos is El Farolito . I ’m all about the cabeza ( principal ) , lengua ( tongue ) and sesos ( mental capacity ) . Great ingredients that you’re able to ordinarily only find in o.k. dining restaurants ( or great Mexican / Asiatic eatery ) . El Farolito is implausibly casual , play , and reproducible . " –Jennifer Puccio , Marlowe / Park Tavern / The Cavalier"To be good , El Farolito is ordinarily a post bar-3am dining spot for me , though I must admit I have n’t been in a while ( I ’m a bite more responsible for now ) . I always order the " ace quesadilla suisa el pastor . " It ’s pretty much a burrito – it ’s huge . I recall " suisa " means super so I usually get a laugh out of the guy at the counter because I am essentially ordering a super superintendent . " –Erik Lowe , Spaghetti Brothers
