Unlikecheese sauce - covered bacon burgersandcrazy unexampled Reese ’s confect , cereal grass avowedly is n’t thesexiesttype of food for a taste - test . But when General Mills announced last week that it ’s releasing an all - new cerealfor the first time in more than 15 yr , we knew we had to try a bowl . OK , peradventure a few bowls .
Tiny Toast comes in two flavors , strawberry and blueberry , and General Mills said it started roll out to cereal aisle nationally last week . The cereal is made up of piddling bread - forge pieces of " pledge " that get along stippled with what the company claim are tiny bits ofrealstrawberries and blueberries rather of artificial savor and colors .
surely , all of that is great , but does it taste undecomposed ? We were cheerily surprised .

Eating it
At first glance , it ’s intemperate not to associate Tiny Toast with Cinnamon Toast Crunch , thanks to their alike name . After open a loge and seeing them up nigh in actual life , it turn out they ’re actually almost indistinguishable in appearance to yet another General Mills food grain , French Toast Crunch , except for all the little pieces of yield .
patently , the main attraction here is the yield and , gratefully , it does n’t disappoint . A pipe bowl of the either flavor gives off a potent fruity look alike to that of a fruit roll - up . Both flavors really taste like the yield they ’re tag as – at least as much as a food grain can savor like fruit . A significant amount of the fruit pieces add up off the toast - shaped pieces to lightly sweeten your milk , which is pretty great ( although you ’ll find a set at the bottom of the bowlful ) .
However , we constitute that one flavor is slightly in effect and even more authentic than the other : blueberry . It ’s not too fresh , somewhat tart , and gets unaired to hitting that " real " fruit flavor than the strawberry mark version does . And yet , they bizarrely remind us of Cap’n Crunch ’s Crunch Berries . peradventure all of this cereal is have to our heads . ¯_(ツ)_/¯
The verdict
Considering it ’s the first new cereal from General Mills in more than a decennium , Tiny Toast does n’t disappoint . It ’s fruity , flavorful , and not too sweet . It even has a nice crunchy - to - soggy ratio almost immediately after you bring Milk River . It ’ll make a helluva midnight bite .
The exclusion of ingredients like High Fructose Corn Syrup , contrived colors , and artificial flavors is pretty great , too . That is , unless you ’re really into that variety of stuff . But is it enough toget mass to exhaust more cereal grass ? That persist to be seen .
The bottom pipeline : If you ’re stock of effect - feeding yourself the same goddamn honey - junky - frosted whatever cereal every morning , you ’ve got a new option that is solidly good .
