Yep , your average beer nerd has had enough of your regular IPAs , and demands something even hoppier . M.I.A. make love this , and present Double Deco , a fellow beer to its flagship IPA Deco . It does n’t taste passing hoppy , but it somehow still has 70 IBUs . We ’d guess it taste even better when wearing loafers with no socks .
Russian River HopTime Harvest Ale
6 % , American IPASanta Rosa , CaliforniaIf you drink in this and expect an RR beer like Pliny the elderberry bush with 100 IBUs and 8 % … this is not that . Hell , it ’s possible you might not even believe it ’s an IPA on your first sip . That ’s not a bad thing . It ends up being a mostly sessionable wet - hop beer that time in at 6 % . Definitely worth seeking out if you ’re a Russian River fan .
Noble Ale Works Nobility Ale
9.1 % , DIPAAnaheim , CaliforniaPut your nose up to this beer and expect to get hit in the grimace by flowery note , like a Broadway star being showered with roses during the curtain call . The beer mother even better once you pour it down your throat . It ’s like drinking a magical pine tree woodland , but not the scary kind .
Great Notion Juice Box
8.2 % , DIPAPortland , OregonThis is one of those beer you have to try out to believe . The Juice Box moniker is not a jokey reference to the fruity flavor of this hoppy beer , either . Unlike some IPAs , the finish to this beer is n’t bitter – rather , it ’s juicy in a mode that ’s reminiscent of those healthy juice boxes your friend from middle school with the crunchy mum always drank .
Strange Craft Breakfast Grapefruit
6.5 % , American IPADenver , ColoradoThis is as grapefruit - forward as a beer called Breakfast Grapefruit can be . If you delight the grapefruit notes of an IPA , this beer is for you . It ’s one of the well Citrus paradisi - toilsome IPAs out there .

It ’s aggressively hoppy up front , but then mellows towards the finish . For a beer that ’s 7.5 % , it ’s a slight shocking how sessionable it tastes .
Odd13 Codename: Superfan
6.5 % , American IPALafayette , ColoradoNew England brewery have welcome some attention for make mirky , bleary IPAs , so it ’s a small surprising that Lafayette , Colorado ’s Odd13 nailed the style so utterly . It ’s a delicious hops - bomb calorimeter , plain and unproblematic . We ’ve got a intuitive feeling this beer will be distributed far and wide someday . That feeling might just be hope .
Short’s Psychedelic Cat Grass
7.6 % , American IPABellaire , MichiganFor a brewery that specialise in dulcet , off - the - paries beers like Key Lime Pie or Creamiest of the Peach ( a rarity it poured at GABF , which was fantastic ) , it ’s a minuscule surprising Short ’s can also rend off a relatively ceremonious hop - forward IPA , albeit one that ’s been triple dry - hopped . Oh Short ’s , you just ca n’t help yourself from being alittlecrazy , can you ? !
Barley Brown’s Forklift
9 % , American IPABaker City , OregonTheAlpha King Challengeis a beloved side competitor at GABF where brewers and beer writer convene to smack some of the safe hops - heavy beers in America and crown winner . This was a second smuggler - up in a previous competition , which mean that if it ’s sound for the best brewers and beer author in America , it ’s good enough for you ( and us ! ) . It ’s a little surprising that it ’s only 90 IBUs , because this beer is not mess around hops - wise , with Simcoe , Columbus , Citra , Chinook , Amarillo , and Ahtanum all fighting for your attention .
