The weather condition has been weird , sometimes frustrating , and occasionally unlimited awful . Hawaii is looking at a little of the latter in what scientists are calling a meteorologic first . TwoCategory 3 hurricane are barrel toward Hawaii aright now . Both threaten to bring torrential rain and monumental winds start Thursday .
The first of the two , Hurricane Madeline , could also be the first hurricane to hit the Big Island since bookkeeping began in 1949 . It presently looks like it will ring just south of the Big Island sometime Thursday , with its course largely spare the other islands .
meteorologist say it ’s too former to say definitively where it ’s going to go , but the National Hurricane Center says that it will fall " dangerously close " to Hawai’i . About 1,000 international mile east of Madeline is Hurricane Lester , moving at a slightly dissolute step and also carrying Category 3 winds . Much of this is unprecedented . hurricane near Hawaii are rare , with weather that facilitate their development tending to take post much further due south . That makes two at once even more noteworthy . It ’s made possible , fit in to Weather Underground ’s Jeff Masters , by a combination of ocean temperatures two to three degrees fond than usual and favorable atmospheric condition .
Hawaii county is under a Hurricane warning , butMasters offers a little hopein that Lester is catch Madeline and that may produce something know as the Fujiwhara effect . It find when two hurricanes get tight enough to each other that the winds begin to impact one another , which would push Madeline further to the south and Lester further north , an idealistic situation for residents of Hawaii .
