A series or moving-picture show either mock the musical genre solely ( The Office , Best of Show ) or it spiel the imitation - vérité feel so nigh to the chest you ca n’t severalise what ’s real and what ’s not ( see 17 years ofThe Blair Witch Projectphenomenon ) , but attempt to pen the spontaneous and it comes off rigid . WithAHS : Roanoke , creator Ryan Murphy has it both ways , aping the data format while suck us into the real drama of the feuding characters . Roanokestarted off lampooningtalking - point dead on target crime show , dipped a toe into institute - footage havoc , swung back to a riff that could stand up toUnREAL , and now is dangling mystery in front of us , vote out each player off in dull , bloody sequence . Without spend a second in the material domain , Murphy ’s turnedAHSinto the slaying - heavy version ofSurvivor . Every theatrical role from the show is in one business firm , and a championship card at the end of " Chapter 6 " fluff the conclusion : only one will make it to the end . Instead of elimination ceremonies , we get sharp object stab through chest cavities .

Last workweek ’s " Chapter 6 " kicked off the killingsby impaling Evan Peters ’s Rory ( and completed the Evil Nurses ' " Murder " sign).“Chapter 7"sliced the fountainhead of the Butcher - obsess actress Tomasyn ( Kathy Bates ) in two . " Chapter 8 " upped the tension with shoddier video , oversaturated color , and repellant turn after disgusting act . First a recovered Shelby – Tomasyn planted a cleaver in her back last sequence , but all was well a few hours afterward – charm Matt fornicate in the basement with Scathach , the OG Supreme . Not take kindly to his amorous obsession , Shelby bashed his promontory in with a crowbar , oh , nine or 10 times .
Murphy takes his time to bug who could go next . Lee , Monet ( Reenactment Lee ) , and Audrey ( Reenactment Shelby ) find themselves the hostages of the Polks , who live on off green goddess money and human flesh jerky . They season and filet Lee first , but eventually she catch the upper hand , seducing the vernal Polk inbred into a headlock . So close to last , Lee prevails – but not before concede to the murder of her husband all those years before . Then Mama Polk getsherhead bop in . Everything about this episode makes the skin crawl .

Lee has a strong chance of endurance . While she felt compel to mortify her husband to reconnect with her daughter , she ’s struggled with dependency and cyberspace - shaming , which makes her one of the more sympathetic and potentially redeemable characters on the show ( this is Murphy we ’re talking about ) . Plus , she survivesAmerican Horror Story ’s cryptic dive into torture - porn repugnance . That count for something in the foresightful run .
Not make it out active – at least not without a humungous twist in the next two hour – is Shelby . Distraught from taking the life story of her loved one , she slice her own neck in front of Dominic ( Reenactment Matt ) . That leaves Lee ; Audrey , who has a high opportunity of obviate death , thanks to her external respiration - on - camera , snot - soaked British accent , which makesRoanoke100 clip funnier ; and Monet , who wiggles out of the tooth - removal chair and runs into the darkness of the Wood . Based on the constabulary intimacy in the preview for " Chapter 9 , " it ’s a safe stake that Monet at least make it to the office .
