I reached out to Hormel , which has owned Skippy since 2013 . Back in 2008 , when the jar change were made , Unilever owned it . I asked why the peanut butter jar has a dimple , and if the pattern has changed recently . Hormel did n’t respond to my dubiousness , but a spokesperson did say that , " We have not changed the jarful since we acquired the brand in 2013 . "
Peter Pan did n’t get back to me . Neither did Jif . But I do n’t ask them to do some ace reporting ! Here ’s what I found from doing some in - profoundness peanut butter research at my local Kroger :

Why the hell is the Skippy dimple so big then?That ’s because this is a vast groundnut butter cabal .
There are no 18 oz jars like there used to be . After all , there ’s no point in giving people more peanut butter for their money if they never knew the jounce shrunk in the first berth . Again , it ’s avast peanut butter … really , this is just about company endeavor to make as much money as possible . Nothing eldritch about that .
